Inactivated hepatitis A vaccine containing 80 antigen units
Indications/Uses
Protection against infection caused by hepatitis A virus in childn 12 mth-15 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
0.5 mL IM inj followed by a booster dose 6-36 mth after the 1st dose, but may be administered up to 7 yr after 1st dose.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Childn allergic to neomycin. Postpone vaccination if child has high temp. Disease w/ high temp; febrile illness, acute infection or progressive chronic disease.
Special Precautions
Weakened immune system due to corticosteroids, cytotoxic drugs, radiotherapy; HIV. Liver disease. Hemophilia. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Pain at inj site; abnormal crying. Decreased appetite; irritability, insomnia; headache; belly pain, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting; muscle & joint pain; local inj site reactions eg, pain, redness, swelling or induration, haematoma; malaise, fever, fatigue or somnolence.
Drug Interactions
Diminished immunological response to the vaccine w/ immunosuppressive treatment.
